The VMT Professional Development is divided into Courses. You are enrolled in the first course, âWelcome to the VMTâ. Most course content is comprised of short videos with 3-5 quiz questions after each video to ensure you understand the primary topics. In addition, some courses have case studies, pre-work for the workshops, summary exams, required reading, live workshops, etc. This course content is organized into lessons and further into modules and topics.
Example:
Course – Welcome to the VMT
Lesson – Getting Started
Topic â About the VMT Mentor Professional Development
Topic â How to use this eLearning system
Topic â Required Reading
Lesson – Module 1: Introduction to VMT Mentoring
Lesson – Module 2: Entrepreneurial Mentoring Fundamentals
Lesson – Module 3: Introduction to Steve Blankâs The Lean LaunchPad
Lesson – Live Workshop: Getting Started Mentoring
The Course Content within each course is designed to be completed in a linear order (i.e., you must complete the previous lesson before viewing the next lesson). When you complete a lesson or topic, you will see the completion checkmark and will be allowed to proceed to the next item in the list.
You must complete all topics included in a lesson before you will be enabled to proceed to the next lesson. You may go back and retake or review any course content that you have completed previously. Also, the video playback controls will be enabled after viewing a video for the first time. After completing this first introduction course, you can complete the other courses in any order.
The courses are designed for you to be able to quickly return to those you have completed in the future if you want to brush up on a topic.
You may stop and take a break from a course at any time. When you want to return to where you left off, log in and press the course’s âcontinue studyâ button.
When returning to a lesson module, you will be prompted to continue the lesson or start the lesson over.  Press âcontinue lessonâ to resume where you left off in the lesson module.
When watching a video for the first time, your player controls are limited in functionality.
Enabled Controls:
You may rewind 15 seconds by pressing the  button located below the video player. Press it multiple times to rewind even further.
Once you have watched a video in its entirety, full player controls are enabled for that video.
The presenters speak at their own natural speech pace. Sometimes it is better to speed up the playback speed to 1.25x to match your preferences.
The Course Progress Indicator shows the percentage of the course that you have completed.
Important note: This percentage reflects the number of lessons and topics you have completed within the course. The time to complete the topics and modules varies greatly; therefore, the course percentage is separate from time spent or time to complete the course.
We have provided time estimates to complete the lesson modules after the module’s name. These estimates include the video run times plus 1 minute per quiz question. The time estimates are formatted as HH:MM:SS (Hours, Minutes, Seconds).
The upper left displays the course breadcrumbs. You can navigate to the Course or Lesson page by clicking on the name.
Example:
The Course page displays the lessons in sequential order under the Course Content. A lesson has either a single module or a list of topics (listed as Lesson Content)
At the bottom of the lesson and topic screens are the back and next buttons that will take you to the previous lesson/topic or the next lesson/topic.
The Lesson Modules have the following layout and navigation:
Navigation buttons are enabled when they are red and disabled when they are grey.
Next takes you to the next topic or quiz question. Back takes you to the previous topic or quiz question.
After each video topic, you will be asked 3-5 quiz questions known as a Mastery Quiz. Each mastery quiz aims to ensure you understand the presented topic. Quiz are multiple-choice, true-false, multi-selection (where one more answers are correct), and drag and drop.
When you answer a question correctly, you will receive a âYes, Correctâ and the next button will be enabled to take you to the next question or next topic.
If you answer a question incorrectly or incompletely, you will be shown the correct answer and a short explanation. You must click the âI understandâ button to proceed and enable the next button.
After you have completed a Mastery Quiz for a topic, you will be taken to the next video topic. You may return to any previously completed video topic to rewatch a video. You may do this by selecting the topic from the topics list or using the back button. The player controls are fully enabled for any video that you have previously viewed. You will also see a Quiz button added to the Module Navigation. This button will allow you to review a mastery quiz and your answers.
